Here is my latest work for the magazine Illustrado. I did the makeup for this international filipina model Charo Ronquillo. She's very professional and good model. I learned a lot from our shoot.

My First Magazine Cover

This is my very first magazine cover ever! When FHM called me and said that they wanted me to do the makeup for the cover girl, i was shocked because at that time i was a fresh talent, with almost a year experience. I asked them, "Are you sure you want me to do her makeup?!? OMG! OMG!".

And so the day came, i was one hour early for the shoot. The model was there and she was very nice. Can you believe it? It took me almost 3 hours doing her makeup. I was so nervous my hands were shaking and the brushes were falling! But the day of shoot thought me a big lesson that until now i am still using as a makeup artist... the difference between makeup for photoshoot (u must take into consideration the type of lighting the photographer is going to use. that is very very important!) and makeup for daily/events/person.

So i patiently did my job, working harmoniously with the team of photographer, stylist and my best friend hair stylist! hahahhaaha. When i saw the shots, they were amazing. I was waiting for the magazine to come out. It was still late April when this May ish came out, it was easily sold out. The people were amazed with the magazine cover and it got a lot of good and positive comments. "Who is that girl?". At the same time, i got a lot of good remarks as a makeup artist.

Feeds Calendar 2009

Before year ends, for sure there are a lot of calendar shoots! We did one of the calendars for a big company of feeds and liquor. I posted here some of the photos taken using my canon g9 camera.

First TVC Experience

This was my very first experience in tvc (commercial) makeup. When i was starting out as a makeup artist, i was invited by my makeup artist mentor, Leo Posadas, to join him and assist in this job. It was tiring but very rewarding. The video looks cool! It pays well to do tvc makeup but the time will take you about 24hours or more, depending on the tvc. I wanna say thanks to leo. :)

Onesimus Holiday Billboard Campaign

So what's keeping me busy last year aside from my weddings and magazine editorial jobs? Fortunately, i did some job for billboards that you will see along EDSA. One of them is the ad campaign of Onesimus for the past Holiday season.

This one, i think is the biggest billboard among the ones that i have seen so far. It's located in C-5. I was amazed how big it was! hehehe

This one is located along EDSA Guadalupe. It's like watching tv when you pass by this area of manila because of the billboards!

This one was the first billboard that i saw, located in EDSA Quezon Ave. Actually, the first tarp that i saw was posted in their delivery truck. I was chasing the truck to take a photo at that time. hahaha

And this was during the photoshoot. That was the stylist's arms fixing the model's outfit. :)

This is my before and after version of the model. I just applied some concealer to even out the dark and red spots on his face and foundation for the flawless look, brushed his eyebrows and contour.

Test Shoot

This is one of the coolest test shoot i did for the year 2008. The model was pearl, some 15 year old girl. Can u believe it??? She's only 15 when we did this shoot. She has a very nice face. Btw, i think she's filipino-australian. she's 5'10!

This shoot was right after Fashion week so we had some couture dresses/outfits. Doc marlon did the art direction for this one. Galing noh!

When this girl came to the shoot, she was wearing makeup so i asked her to remove it. we just had a hard time with her eyelashes cuz she was wearing waterproof mascara. btw, thanks to Alee, he fixed her eyebrows by threading. whoa!

Sugarsugar Magazine Cover (Oct ish)

This was my first time to work with young actress Kim Chiu. She was very pleasant. And of course she has a very nice skin. Kutis artista. haahhaha. It's a good thing that eventhough she works late due to shoots and gets stressed every now and then, this young actress knows how to take care of her skin... or maybe she is lucky cuz of her genes. ;)

This cover was for the anniversary issue of sugarsugar magazine. ;p

i did the makeup for this shoot long time ago. the models are russians and they have very nice skin and their features are beautiful. i just groomed their eyebrows, curled their lashes and put some lip gloss.

i didn't have a hard time doing this model's makeup because she has a perfect skin. her pores are almost visible and there are no blemishes. sometimes, it's in the genes... but of course we should be able to take care of our own skin. washing our face and removing makeup before we go to bed should be a daily routine. choosing the right cosmetics and moisturizer helps also. we should also protect our skin from sun damage by applying sunblock. there are available tinted sunblocks or foundations with spf in the market. :)

I did the makeup for the cover of Sugarsugar magazine for the month of Sept 08. i spent almost half a day looking for the cd of this because i lost my files from my old laptop. now that i have my new macbook, it's so easy to upload fotos and to manage them. so voila!

the models are the top models Charmaine de Guzman (PMAP) and Jasmine Maeirhofer (Mercator). they are one of the best models here in the philippines... very professional and easy to work with. i love them!

i was impressed by stylist kai. i like the concept and the clothes which she pulled out from the local designers from the fashion week... as usual doc marlon took very nice photos. the shoot was quick!took us like 2 hours. wow amazng huh.

btw, sugarsugar magazine is like teen vogue. it is under the manila bulletin publishing. about the look, i was told that they wanted them to look fresh and young. i used shades of pink for their blush and lipstick. i got a lot of calls from readers and friends regarding my makeup. i am so happy. i can say this is one of the best!

Before and After

here are some photos of the before and after makeup. as you can see their looks changed. some of them are already pretty to begin with but their beauty were enhanced by makeup. it's so cool to create different looks. i like smokey eyes. i just realized by looking at different photos and pegs from magazines and different fashion websites that there is a wide variety of smokey eyes. from subtle eyeliner to big smokey raccoon eyes.

i like red lipstick... you can choose what kind of red shade you want to use. use your skin tone to match the shade of red. some times there are shades of red that makes our teeth look yellow!

Eyebrow disaster!

welcome to my blog! i will be telling you tips about makeup, looks, brands, products, how to's, do's and dont's and a lot more. if you have any questions about makeup, feel free to leave a comment and i will reply as soon as possible! let's make this portion a venue for us to share our views and tips.

ok, let me tell you about my long time friend who i met last night for dinner. she's a law student and very fashionable, i must say. she knows that i am makeup artist so she asked me about her eyebrows. her eyebrows are very thin (almost one line) and the worse thing is that they are not even. one is shorter than the other and they have different shapes! the arch of the left one is higher! as i remember, her eyebrows were fuller before so i figured she did a terrible plucking of her eyebrows. i told her to grow her eyebrows so i will just pluck/shave it for her. but she told me it's been like that forever and she couldn't do anything about it! so she just asked me if i could teach her how to shape her eyebrows using her eyebrow kit from "benefit". she mentioned to me that she was planning to have her eyebrows tattooed if she couldn't learn how to shape it herself. well, for me, i wouldn't suggest having them tattooed cuz based on my experience, it's obvious to tell a tattooed eyebrow. for me it doesn't look so natural! well, maybe there are good tattoo artists who can do it well that it wouldn't look so fake. i'm talking about tattooed eyebrows that turn green through time! hahaha! i hope u get what i mean... anyway, so i showed her how to do shape her brows! she started to complain after she saw me that i drew her eyebrow! i told her i had to do it to make her brows look even, you just have to blend it well so it wouldn't look like as if it was drawn! the technique here is to use powder shadow (actually brow set kits have powder shadow) so it will look natural!

well, lesson learned here: never overdo your eyebrows by plucking/shaving them until one line eyebrow is left! if you're not sure that you can do it, leave it to the experts. go to the nearest salon that you trust and have it done there by professionals. if you have virgin eyebrows, meaning it's never been plucked before, try to remove stray hairs little by little to achieve the desired shape! instead of shaving them totally until suddenly you realized you murdered your eyebrows. haha!

eyebrows are important and having them nicely shaped and cleaned will make a difference in your face/looks!

anyway, here are some of the before and after photos of my models' eyebrows.
